RSS (Really Simple Syndication) is used to distribute content that is updated frequently such as blog entries, news headlines and podcasts. An RSS document (also known as "feed," "web feed" or "channel") can either summarize the content of a web site or display the full text.
The software used to read RSS content is called an "RSS reader," "feed reader" or an "aggregator." You can enter the feed's link into the reader to subscribe to a feed. Clicking an RSS icon in a browser will also begin the subscription process. The reader then regularly checks your subscribed feeds for new content and downloads any updates.
